Good morning, lakeshore. Reeths-Puffer's girls golf team won its first regional title since 2018 Tuesday at Lincoln Golf Club, beating South Christian by eight strokes. The celebration TikTok was a different story. It took the Rockets a few tries to get one they liked. After missing state by one stroke, then five, then three over the last three seasons, nobody minded the retakes.

In today’s Lowdown:

  • Sondheim's Company opens at the Beardsley

  • Last call on Michigan's Adventure passes

  • The lumberman who gave Muskegon a third of his fortune

Let’s get into it.

PARTY OF ONE

Bobby turns 35 at the Beardsley 🎭

Sondheim's Company opens tonight at the Beardsley.

Robert, who goes by Bobby, turns 35 and is still single. Over a run of dinners, drinks and one wedding, his married friends weigh in on what he's missing and what he's dodging. By the end, Bobby has to figure out what he actually wants.

The show won six Tony Awards, Best Musical among them. Andrew Kitchka plays Bobby, with a 14-person cast around him. The Beardsley is the smaller room inside the Frauenthal, so you'll be close enough to catch every eye roll.

Opening weekend has three shows: Friday and Saturday at 7:30 PM, and a Sunday matinee at 3. RUSH tickets go on sale one hour before every curtain.

SAWDUST TO STAINED GLASS

🌟Only in Muskegon and Grand Haven

In 1856, a 19-year-old worked his way across Lake Michigan on a schooner called the Challenge. Within a day of landing, Charles Hackley was shoveling sawdust into a boiler at a Muskegon lumber yard. By the library's count, he built an $18 million fortune and gave a third of it back to the town that put him to work. His first gift, on May 25, 1888, built Hackley Public Library. When he died in 1905, he lay in state in what's now the library's Children's Room, and more than 7,000 people filed past to say goodbye.
